What Is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a traditional therapy that involves the gentle insertion of very fine needles into specific points on the body. Traditional Eastern Acupuncture has been practised for thousands of years and forms part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
Traditional Acupuncture takes a holistic approach to wellbeing, considering how different aspects of the body may be connected rather than focusing only on a single area of discomfort. Treatment is based on individual assessment and uses specific acupuncture points along the body’s traditional meridian pathways.
The needles are extremely fine, and most people experience little more than a mild sensation as they are inserted. Many people find the treatment deeply relaxing and enjoy a sense of calm and wellbeing during and after their session.
Benefits of Acupuncture
People choose acupuncture for a variety of reasons, from supporting relaxation and wellbeing to helping manage everyday discomfort. At Dyosa, acupuncture may be considered for concerns including:
- Headaches and migraines
- Back pain and musculoskeletal discomfort
- Sciatica
- Stress, tension and anxiety
- Sleep difficulties
- Digestive concerns
- Menstrual and women’s health concerns
- Allergies and sinus congestion
- Fatigue and low energy
- Muscular tension and discomfort
- Certain repetitive strain conditions, such as tennis elbow or carpal tunnel syndrome
During your consultation, your practitioner will discuss your individual concerns, assess your needs and determine whether acupuncture may be an appropriate treatment for you.

When Is Acupuncture Not Recommended?
Although acupuncture is generally considered safe, it may not be suitable for everyone.
Please tell your practitioner about any medical conditions, medications, pregnancy, blood-thinning medication, bleeding disorders, or other health concerns before treatment.
If you are unsure whether acupuncture is suitable for you, please contact Dyosa before booking. If you have a serious medical condition, speak with your doctor or healthcare professional before treatment.
What to Expect from Your Treatment
Your first acupuncture appointment will begin with a consultation. Your practitioner will discuss your general health, wellbeing and reasons for seeking acupuncture. This helps them understand your individual needs and create a suitable treatment approach.
Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing and have a light meal before your appointment rather than arriving hungry.
During your treatment, your practitioner will gently insert very fine needles into selected acupuncture points. Depending on your individual needs, these may be located on the arms, legs, back, abdomen, neck or face.
The needles may remain in place for a short period before being gently removed. Most people find acupuncture to be a calm and relaxing experience.

1. Are the results natural-looking?
Absolutely. Because Cosmetic Acupuncture works with your body’s natural physiology rather than suppressing or inflating it, the results are famously subtle, flattering, and expressive. No "Frozen" or Overfilled Look: Unlike Botox—which temporarily paralyzes facial muscles—or dermal fillers—which add artificial gel volume—acupuncture micro-stimulates your skin to trigger its own collagen and elastin production. Preserved Facial Expressions: Your natural facial movements, warmth, and expressions remain completely intact. You simply look like a refreshed, rested, and radiant version of yourself. Total Skin Improvement: While injectables only target localized lines or volume loss, acupuncture improves overall skin quality—enhancing texture, brightness, firmness, and blood circulation across the entire face.
2. Are the results longer-lasting?
The longevity of Cosmetic Acupuncture differs from injectables in how it functions over time: Cumulative & Structural: Botox usually wears off completely after 3 to 4 months, requiring you to repeat the same procedure indefinitely. Cosmetic Acupuncture works cumulatively. An initial series of treatments (typically 6 to 10 sessions) builds up structural collagen and improves tissue elasticity at a cellular level. Long-Term Skin Health: Because you are rebuilding your skin's own natural support structure rather than relying on a temporary chemical fix, the benefits are long-lasting. Once the initial course is completed, results can be maintained long-term with simple periodic top-ups (e.g., once a month).
